Supervisor(s) : B Rolston School of Sociology and Applied Social Studies
Title of Project : Policing, Security and Human Rights: Northern Ireland and Beyond.
Project Description :
This project involves the completion of a doctorate by published works. The subject area is policing in transition with a particular emphasis on learning for and from the Northern Ireland experience over the past 10-15 years. My work has promoted and developed what might and should be meant by a human rights centered approach to security reform in a post-conflict setting, predating and more recently critiquing the post-Patten attempt to focus on human rights as the core business of policing. The approach adopted is one of lessons learned and to be learned.
