Title of Project : Policy Decision Making in Post-Oslo Palestine: A Case Study of Three Policy Areas
Project Description :
This research aims to produce a descriptive analysis of the models of policy decision making in post-Oslo Palestine in three selected policy areas which are fundamental to the nation-state building process that started in 1993; i.e. citizenship education, taxation, and national health insurance. These observed models will then be critically analysed to produce recommendations for improvements in the nature and effectiveness of the policy decision-making process in a form of a working model that can also contribute to a democratic and participative policy process. This would be supported by an analysis of the models of governing elite in post-Oslo Palestine in terms of internal, external and contextual factors that contribute in defining the type of political system that is in control of the state-formation process and subsequent effects on the outcome of this process.
