Research Projects Available for Postgraduate (PHD) Study

UNIT OF ASSESSMENT 58- Linguistics

Project Outline

The syntax, semantics or phonology of a language variety or varieties, and its implications for linguistic theory

Applicants should submit a project proposal of around 2000 words with their application

Projects in this area will investigate a particular language, dialect or group of languages, or a particular area of linguistic theory. Students are invited to contact potential supervisors to discuss the proposed focus of the study.

Students may undertake this project in relation to local language varieties such as Belfast English and other Irish Englishes, Irish or Ulster Scots, or other language varieties
