My experience to date has been varied as my resume shows.  All of it art and design related but with a definite oriental influence -  Japan in particular!

My love of all things Japanese (and this was before sushi became popular!) started whilst at art college and the majority of my work evolved around Japanese Arts and Crafts - origami, yakimono, shibori and shodo.  Hence my receiving a 2 year Daiwa Anglo-Japanese scholarship to study Japanese (Intermediate level - nikkyu) and learn first-hand Japanese arts and crafts.

Whilst living in Tokyo (1996 - 2000), I worked for The Conran Shop, as a design assistant to the internationally famous fashion designer Hanae Mori and as an interior co-ordinator for Rovre Interior.  I also taught in various colleges and schools and undertook several private art commissions.

I did not forget my Celtic roots (educated here!) or indeed my English ones (born there!).  I was lucky to be involved with a variety of cultural, fashion and art events promoting Ireland and  the UK:  Celtic Festival, British Hotwave, Ireland Festival 2000 and Japan 2001.

I am now studying to become a secondary teacher in the field of Art and Design.  I need to do something constructive with all this experience!
