Owen Hargie

Prof. Owen Hargie

Contact Details

 

Professor Owen Hargie Is a member of the University’s Institute for Research in Social Sciences. He is Coordinator of the Communication Research Unit. He is also a Chartered Member, Registered Practitioner and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. Special areas of interest are in the study of interpersonal, organisational, health and cross-community communication, fields in which he has published 20 books and over 120 book chapters and journal articles. He is Associate Professor at the University of Chester Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. He was also Adjunct Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He is on the Editorial Board of a range of Journals. Was awarded the honour of Senior Distinguished Research Fellowship by the University of Ulster in 2006 in recognition of the international quality of his research. He is an Elected Member of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters, and Vice-Chair of the Interpersonal Communication and Social Interaction Section of the European Communication Research and Education Association. He has obtained numerous major research grants from bodies such as Leverhulme, DENI, the Department of Economic Development, the Community Relations Council, the European Fund for Peace and Reconciliation, and the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union, and has wide experience of supervising doctoral students.
